Jake Radziewicz:
Whenever I just want to escape the real world, I travel to my Walden. My Walden isn’t necessarily a place itself. Rather it is a place I can escape to without leaving my house. To get to this far off land, all I have to do is pick up one of my favorite books. I am then instantly sent to another dimension where I am completely immersed in my own imagination. Anything can be created in this place deep within my psyche. It doesn’t matter when or where, as long as I have a good book to read, my Walden is always with me.
Books aren’t the only Walden that I have. Other ones include anime, video games, and just going to sleep. Video games are the one place where I control what goes on by being awesome. They are all set in their own areas allowing me to go anywhere and experience amazing battles of catastrophic magnitudes. Anime are places where I can view worlds that I long to be in. Ranging from one country, to the entire universe, anime help me see places I would most likely never see, albeit a little less realistically. Anime also pretty much covers up any scenario possible which can lead to funny, romantic, or action packed story-lines. Sleeping is just as great as the other places I have. Being able to sleep in a bed is one of the most pleasurable things I do on a daily basis. If you are truly tired from working non-stop all day, then you know how amazing it feels to put your head on your pillow and just sleep. These are my Waldens.

Samantha Gavina:
In a weird way, I do have my own Walden. It isn’t a completely accessible place all the time, and I can only go to it if I have a reason to be there, but when I am there, my mind goes completely calm and I can think about things in a logical and calm way. For some reason, my Walden is the NJ Transit Bayhead route train. Whether it be going to New York City or coming back from, I can clear my head the most on this train. Maybe it’s something about coming from or going to my favorite place in the entire world, the feeling of moving without having to stop for traffic, or the scenic views that you can see from the window. I don’t know if it’s one specific thing. However, I sit on this train once in a while, put on some slow acoustic songs and look out the window and think, and I can’t think of any other time where I can think that clearly.

Rianna Ronquillo:
When I want to be alone, I most of the time do not actually want to be alone. Think about it. When you say that you want to be alone, don't you always wish or pray that someone was with you to tell you that everything is going to be okay? But when the person I want to be with is not able to be with me, I usually am in my bed. My bed is mine. Nobody else's. My room, I have to share. My living room, I have to share. Everywhere I go I need to share it with some person or people. But my bed? That is all mine. A "Walden" is your own sanctuary. A place where you go to be by yourself, to think, to plan, to whatever. In this place, you are not being judged, or teased, or anything to that degree.
My bed has huge fluffy pillows and layers on layers of blankets. In a way this is a literal sanctuary-- a place to keep me safe. The pillows and blankets are like a fort of some kind. The blankets keep me warm from the cool air, and the pillows are my "support." There is no place like it. There are no "backups" or "substitutes." It is a one of a kind place to be. If you go to a hotel and sleep there for a week or so, you begin to miss your own bed. "The pillows are not as soft." "The blankets make my skin itchy." We've all complained about it before. Whatever mood I am in, my bed is the place I want to be. Generally when you associate people wanting to be in bed it's because they are tired or sad. But when I'm happy I still want to go to bed. People would think that a Walden needs to be a Nirvana or something to that degree, but it can be as simple as something you get to be in for a good eight hours a day.
